Bet i got a lot of eager little websurfers goin with this one, but i must say that the r6 and r1 are quite dominant in the market-or were (cough gix 1k cough). My only complaint is the lack of paint choices. If i ever got an r6- which god willing, one day i will:) I would certainly repaint it, f resale value i'd prolly keep the bike till it was toast with 50 k plus miles on it. You guys have any custom paint pics of r1s or r6s? Just wanted some ideas about what a stealth yami might look like.

Actually I've not heard of any reacurring problems with the R6, or any 600 outside the TT. The 98-01 R1 had problems with the valve train making all kinds of racket, clutch basket failures, shift mechs getting chewed, etc, etc...

The 02 R1 already has 2 cases of the front-end seizing, one case actually flipping the rider over the bars at 60-70 MPH. Not a good start to a new model.

Yamaha's do have one weakness:
<font color=blue>Yamaha</font color=blue>'s are compulsive eater's and they have a weakness for <font color=red>Honda</font color=red>'s. That's right folk's - it's pretty hard to keep a <font color=blue>Yamaha</font color=blue> from eating every <font color=red>Honda </font color=red>in sight!!!

Not to rain on the "Yamaha Parade".... I personally like the new R1(bout time on the fuel inj.)&R6. But what the hell has the R7 done.... it gets eaten by every other manufactuer out there. Thank God you guys got Gobert because he is notorious for making piss poor bikes run up front.(I know Bimota with the TL motor that blew up)

And what's with no sport worthy twin from yamaha?!?!?!?

Just my 2 cents,
Jim

How can a Yamaha eat a Honda when it's choking on its shift mech? I know the R1 is over weight and portly compared to the 954 and if it EATS the 954 it will weigh as much as the ZX9? Serious though, the R1 is a VERY pretty bike with power to keep up with the CBR, but the handling isn't there and a bike will lose evertime when it's in the shop.

And what's with the oil light always coming on on the R1? How will you know when the oil pres. really is low? All you 02 R1 riders out there hang-on tight, when that front-end locks up the ejection seat will launch you over the bars. :D
