Team Yamaha Belgarda news
World Supersport Championship, Round 1, Valencia, Spain
Saturday 9th March Final qualifying
Weather: Dry, sunny 21 C
THIRD ROW FOR CASOLI AND WHITHAM
Final qualifying didn't quite work out as intended for Yamaha Belgarda
riders Paolo Casoli and Jamie Whitham resulting in places alongside each
other on the third row of the grid. So, tomorrow both will be looking for
good starts in what promises to be a scorcher of a race. Both Casoli and
Whitham know that they can do the lap times required in race conditions and
are in a positive mood about tomorrow's race. Pole today was set by
Frenchman Fabien Foret, who blasted his Honda round the Valencia circuit in
a time of 1:37.674. Joining him on the front row of the grid will be
Chambon (Suzuki), Corradi (Yamaha) and Cruciani (Yamaha).
Paolo Casoli 12th. 1:39165
"I don't think it is so bad for me here at Valencia a track I do not like
at all. When I put on a soft tyre to go for a really quick lap, I made a
mistake so I know that my final lap time could've been better. For me, it's
more important what times are being done on race rubber and that's what
I'll be thinking about at the start of the race tomorrow. I think I've got
some good tyres for the race and as long as I make a good start, I think I
can come away with some good points."
Jamie Whitham 13th, 1:39.244
"I'm a bit sick, because I know I could have been much higher up the grid.
Now I'm on the third row situation normal for me last year and I've got
a lot of work to do. But I've been there many times before and got good
results, so I know it's possible tomorrow. I managed to crash when I was on
my soft tyre and that put me well down the order. I just lost the front end
and that was that, but fortunately I didn't do any damage to myself. I've
got to get a good start tomorrow and then see what happens. I'm still
thinking of a good result."
