This might be a stupid question but here goes can a 04 R1 complete fairing kit work on different years if so what years.

It will be a direct fit to the 05 , other than that you would need a lot of cutting and mods to make it fit any other years

So more or less to upgrade a less year than 04 would take alot of work or it would make any sence at all
