Guess I'm just right at around 3500 feet.

That's pretty commanding pics!

Maybe so, but up to 14,000 feet of rock sure would have stopped that wave. I am with you Notto, asteroids be damned.

That damage is unreal. It is sometimes hard to believe that mother nature is that powerful, but she sure has no problems showing us.

you see all the close pictures from the ground and you're like "yeah that sucks"

after I look at those its just sad. So much destruction in less than a minute and nobody could really do anything :frown:

I see waves in the pre-damage photos. Are these the tsunami waves coming in or are these normal?

Sur lanka(sp?) is a hot surf spot. I've been reading storys about a surfer who was there that morning and was catching a flight out around noon. Apperently he left about 15 min before it hit. He said that he's sure most of his surfing buddies where out when it came in.

I guess thats a good way for a surfer to go out?!

thats frightening. an awesome display of unimaginable power, further proof that someday, no matter what you do, you're next in line, so you better live each day like there was no tomorrow.

some of the stories that have come out of there are practically beyond comprehension. the group that walked along the beach for 5 days seeing nothing but dead bodies, not a single living soul.
