I recently purchased a 95 6R race bike to do some track days on.

After a few weeks, shes running great, just needs tires.

Not sure what kind I should use. I'm sure the first track day I won't get a lot of riding in since I'll be setting up the suspension, but I need decent rubber.

I was thinking of the Pilot race, but then I saw the Avon 40ss for just over 200 a pair.

Are they any good? Any other suggestions?

Have you seen the tire comparo in the last Sport Rider?

I'm not sure if your looking for pure slicks or DOT rubber.
But it is a great article.

Honestly,
I personally think that most of the tires are really good, it is mostly just a matter preference. And mostly, when you get your bike set up for a particular tire, it is harder to switch since you have to re-set the bike for that tire. But if you have to set up the bike anyways you don't really have to worry about that.
