Who is that?. He put on a great show in the 750SS race, held off more than a few GSXR 750s and really impressed me. I like V-twin sounds but the bike was just a bit too raspy at full throttle for my liking, can't argue with the power that loud exhaust allowed for though /images/icons/wink.gif.

That would be Mike Ciccotto, last years #2 in ProThunder and Daytona's #2 as well. Did any of the Ducati's run in the 750SS? or were the Buells the only Masochist's. Though I think they are out of place in the 750SS it will be interesting to see how they do on some of the slower tracks. Exhast wise I'm guessing that it's something whipped up by D&D (they are building a pretty good Race can for the other Buells) hence the noise. That thing really does look like a GP bike.

I know of him, I just didn't know that he was on that particular bike. There weren't any 748s running in 750SS, but now that you mention it, maybe they should have, they would have had a nice showing. I am betting they have probably tried in the past but were blocked by AMA ruling or something. I am glad the Buell was in there, the race for the lead was boring and it was nice seeing the Buell out there mixing it up on the track. When we first saw it in the race we were wagering on how long it would last before it started smoking as they usually do in the past, but it held up just fine and it was a Suzuki that was actually blowing smoke /images/icons/laugh.gif.

All bikes ran on DOT rubber, michelin, pirelli, dunlop.. All bikes...every race....every bike...

I think he meant DOT rubber as in treaded street legal tires, which of course race slicks are not.

Cicotto finished 2nd in the Pro-Thunder race, I don't know his position in the 750SS race as I have no way of keeping track of who is on what lap etc. You could do a lot worse than checking the AMA website for final results.

yes I meant street tires not race tires.
BTW he finished 26th out of 62 that started the 750SS. Montanano (or however you spell his name) last years Prothunder winner was gridded to start the 750SS but didn't. Other than a few Kawi600cc bike the entire field was GSXR750's That's not bad for a first race especially for a bike that wasn't designed for the track.

I am not sure about all the races but I know the AMA Supersport 600 race, the factory guys were using treaded DOT tires...not slicks.

Pro Thunder allows slicks, 750SS I requires DOT tires but the Ducs, SV's and Buells can run slicks if the want Cicotto did not. Part of the charm of 600SS is the fact that those bikes are supposed to be very close to street stock (I know they ain't but that's the theory anyway. Now WSS the bikes are very close to street bikes...you could probably ride to the race, get a change of tires, race and go home.
