It was already said, get the best you can afford. I think my gear totals over $1700 (and about 20lbs /images/icons/laugh.gif). This includes Dainese Flash2 leather jacket, Dainese P217 leather pants, Dainese T-Age leather gloves, Dainese BackSpace 2 back protector, Sidi Vertebra Race boots and an Arai RX-7 RR4 helmet (solid color). I wouldn't expect everyone to sink that much into riding gear but you need to get the best you can with the money you have. Helmet and good gloves are a must. I also recommend some form of back/spine protection.

I'll shamelessly promote a great site I found where I bought my first set of gear i'm sure you'll have to cut and paste it though lol it's www.newenough.com they have both new and used stuff and they have VERY VERY good deals. My first jacket was a Fieldsheer(sp?) and I think very highly of it considering I hit a dog at almost 60 it did it's job and then some. I also like the Joe Rocket stuff there cloves where very comfertable and resonable priced ( the GPX's anyhow) I now have a speedmaster jacket for my leather and a pheonix jacket for the summer my meteor jacket sucks but the other two are great. I have a pair of AlpineStar SP2 gloves and i don't realy like those they seem to cut off circulation at a couple of hours on the road. Try the helmet shop for a helmet My personal pick is the Arai QuantumF vents well and fits great. www.helmetshop.com If I remeber right my QuantumF was 379 when I looked around at bike shops they wanted over 500 for the same thing. Basicaly cheap gear is way better then no gear but if you don't mind partting with the money getting the good stuff is worth it, it will fit better and last alot longer then the cheaper stuff. anyhow hope that helped a little that is enough rambling from me :)

http://www.newenough.com is a great place to get your gear. I have a joe rocket meteor 3.0 jacket that I like alot but doubt it will hold up as good as leather in a wreck. I also have first gear ballistic riding pants that are the honda brand and they seem nice but also not as good as leather. A pair of teknic gloves and sidi boots and all in all I think that is around 600-700 dollars for a decent set of gear. Add a helmet for like 150 and that puts you ate 750-850 and thats still not bad for a decent set of gear head to toe. I'm now in the process of ordering the Hein Gericke superbike leathers which are 325 for the jacket and 250 for the pants but now since my fuking car was stripped I have to pay my insurance deductable to get it fixed /images/icons/mad.gif So i'll be broke as a joke if I do get the gear which isn't looking so good now if I want to continue with my bike payments. Anyways I think you can get a good leather jacket for 200, a good pair of pants for 200, gloves for 70-100 and boots for 100-150 and a HJC helmet for 125-175.

Okay sorry about my rambling but just buy the best you can afford

So far I have had zero problems with the meteor. Seems are good and I did find out its not waterproof but it is pretty water resistant and kept me pretty dry.
