I picked up my 2001 R1 the other day. Man, that thing is UNBELIEVABLE. Very fast and it rides like a dream....And of course, I got the blue one.

I can't wait for this Chicago weather to warm up so I can get out and ride it now....

A 2001 R1 does not come in SILVER! LOL That goes to show how stupid these Honda riders are! LOL (just kidding, don't get your panties in a bunch!)

Don't listen to them Mongo. Like BluedEyedDragon says...."The blue one is faster!". The blue one is lighter too....Blue makes the bike 15lbs lighter! /images/icons/cool.gif

I thought that 2001 was the only year for the Champions R1 like the Erion Racing 929

That's what I thought as well when another member on here posted that comment. Then someone posted a pic of a 2002 Champions Edition R1. Maybe the picture was a fake, that's what I'm trying to determine....

I talked to three dealers today and all confirmed that there is NO 2002 R1 Champ Ed. all the while they told me to come down and check out the Red and Blue R1's that they all have on the showroom floor. Even Yamaha's website shows just the three models (Red, Silver, and Blue). I got an R1 in Liquid Silver on the way and can hardly wait. Hopefully, I will see you all on your pitchforks ( and for some reason I hear the song announcing the arrival of the Wicked Witch of the East).

Damn, damn, damn...I knew it was to good to be true./images/icons/smile.gif That photoshop pic looked good, though, didn't it? Thanks for everyones help! When I trade in on the 2002 R1, that was going to be my choice. Now it's back to square one. I love all three colors, but don't quite think the red looks as good as mine(00), but haven't seen it in person, yet. I really like the blue, especially after seeing pics of spiderman ss 's bike. But then theres the silver...........damn, damn, damn.....

Carefull claiming you have a 01 R1, mongo, the Yamaboys here think the 01 is a piece of "junk" cause the 02 makes more than 2 HP more than the 01. Don't worry though, the 02 will be "junk" in t-minus 2 years, then they'll trader-in and start all over. Sweet! Have a good day. :)
