Ok my kawasaki brethren, i need some help. I've got an 99 zx9r, on a ride yesterday, the right rear foot bracket broke right where the muffler attaches, and the bracket that's welded to the muffler broke also.

Now this may or may not be covered under my extended warranty. If it is, no issue right now, it'll be replaced no charge. If not then i've got to look into replacing the exhaust with either a slip on or an full exhuast.

So my question is if i were to go with a full exhaust, what results have you other 9 owners gotten with your full exhaust (or other kawi bikes) and what are your opinions and recomendations.

On the same note, those with slip ons, what would you suggest, and have you noticed any improved performance.

I would rather have better perfromance over sound.

Thanks for all your help.

i'm not sure how much of the part attached to the muffler you lost but i'm sure something can be fabricated. as for the rear peg and bracket, they're a dime a dozen on ebay.

of course if an upgrade is what you're looking for, i'd suggest a full akra systemm, jet kit, K&N, and hold on tight. good luck

a'ight man, you gotta go with akrapovic or muzzy. those are the best brands for kaw's.`the akrapovic is a little better, but also a little more expensive. they both sound quite nice. the power gains are very good also. these 2 brands give you the most powewr to my knowledge. the akrapovic a little more than the muzzy, but small enough to only matter if you are racing. do not forget to re-jet so that you dont burn those valves!!!

If you go full system and a jet kit, be careful with the jet kit. I've read that dyno-jet kits on ZX9s can damage the carbs over time because the dyno jet components (needles from memory) are so much harder than original equipment that they cause premature wear.
