Honda's Kurtis Roberts became the first man to complete a lap in the 1:47sat Daytona moments ago when he made his way around the high banks of the Speedway at 1:47.865 in the first Qualifying session at Daytona. To celebrate, he turned an even faster lap at 1:47.527 with ten minutes to go in the session.

That's nearly one second faster than last year's pole time.
