I only got to ride it home from the dealer, but I can already tell that this thing is incredible in the power department. This is coming from a guy who used to have a 99 ZX9R. I can't wait to see what it is like when I get it above 6 grand. I've never had a bike with FI before. Is it supposed to make that mechanical sound when turning the key to the on position. It sounds like its loading it up with fuel?

Peace,
Ryan

Yes...its just the fuel pump/images/icons/wink.gif.

Hope you like your new gixxer/images/icons/smile.gif.

Well I used to have the blue ZX9R and I always wished I had gotten the Kawasaki green (just because it's the brand color). So this time I went with the traditional blue and white Suzuki colors. It truly is a beautiful bike.

Peace,

The power comes on rediculously after 6k. I mean rediculously. There is plenty below there, but hold on after that. I did my break in according to the book. I love my blue and white one. I will be doing a custom paint job to showcase my work though soon. If you keep it above 7k in the corners, it is so much more controllable. There is a jerk if you let off the gas and try to accelerate at low rpms because of the timing retardation. We are lucky folks to have this caliber bike offered to the public.

I don't think its the timing retard but rather the obscene low end torque on the bike. I just disabled the TRE today and its still jerky through corners at low rpm if you roll on/off the gas. I'm not sure I'm ready for any 7K + rpm corners yet, either, though!

The timing retard is easily defeated (this also defeats the top speed limiter) by cutting 2 ECU wires and attaching them w/ a 6.8 KOhm resistor. Stop by www.gixxer.com for details and pictures on this free little mod. Its generally referred to as TRE which stands for timing retard elimination.

Congrats on your kickass new bike! I just got mine about 3 weeks ago. When I'm not riding it, I'm usually thinking about riding it. /images/icons/smile.gif

if the power really kicks on around 6k, then i would be cautious about hangin turns at 7k...wouldnt want the rear to slip on ya....maybe in higher gears it's ok though...just pondering and increasing my post count:)

Congrats on the new bike!! Yes, the bike does have a ton of power above 6K, the key is just throttle control. I have no problems with the rear end coming loose out of a corner, but I also do not try to use full throttle while leaned over
