Bike is stock, 2 helmets and new tires, 9800 miles. guy says $3700 OBO, Kelley blue book says Trade in: 2375, Retail: $3480. But it has low miles, deal or not.

Too much. We just sold an immaculate '93 F2 for $2500 out the door. It had 4900 miles on it, and was showroom-perfect with an older Micron full exhaust on it. More's the pity...the kid who bought it already dropped the poor bike /images/icons/frown.gif. It was the nice silver/black one too...

Leave the dealership!!!
1. If your buying a bike always pay cash.
2. Never buy a used bike from the dealer.

Here's my theory from riding many 100,000+miles and seeing more crashes than I can recall.

If your making payment on a bike and you are upside down on the worth, then you will pay the difference when you total it. I have seen to many riders stop riding and go into debt because they financed a new bike and totaled it several months later.

As for used bikes you will get a much better deal and usually a better bike from a private individual.
If I were selling you a bike I wouldn't be out to F' you over like the dealer.
I have sold all(*except the one I totaled) of my old bikes to friends. All of them had over 30,000 miles. All of them are still running perfectly today.

You can get an awesome bike for 3,000.oo if you look and are willing to travel a few miles.

last season i got a 96 f3 with 9000 milse on it for 3700 so i'd say definitely get him closer to the 3000 dollar mark, on principle alone, other than that, check out ebay- there are some SICK deals on there, if you can deal with the money for shipping, even with shipping most of the deals are very good. I wish I could see the bikes in ebay on person for their prices, it is just so impossible to buy a bike having no true idea about it's condition, i mean what a shot in the f'n dark.

I'd say you should be able to get an F2 in good shape for under $2500, or one is great shape for about $3000

I agree. That price is way too high IMO.

thanks everyone.
this bike is being sold by a private party. the kid wants all he can get for it to pay for school. i don't think he wants to budge on the price so i don't think i'll bother with it.
i didn't realize how much cheaper this bike goes for. this area (north idaho) has a high resale value for bikes i guess!

Area does have some to do with it. Here in Columbus,OH these things are very abundant and can be had for under $3000 but at the same time someone wants 4000 for theirs and just might get it if the right sucker comes along. Case in point, when I bought my bike in 01/01 for $2750 a guy a few towns over was trying to sell his for 4 even. Same year, color etc.
I always look at traderonline for best prices, just do a search then click price match. The F2 came up with an average tag of $3100 just today.

dj's my brother sports a 93 F2 white and blue one. He is considering selling it. It might be cheaper than the one you are looking at?? Not sure where your located at but he is in Alabama. I personally know the bike and it has 17K miles and runs like the day it came off the showroom floor. I dont think he paid $3700 for it with higer miles. He is a member of esportbike also>BoogieF2 is his screen name> he could probably help you out some, maybe even sell his.

I bought a 96 f3 with 6201 miles and one scratch (noticable) a couple of years ago for $5299 and when I crashed it the insurance company valued it at $7399 for the total. It had a purple windshield, a vance and hines slip-on, and needed a new front tire soon. Recently a friend of mine found a yzf600 (95-97?) for $1500 with 8000 miles on it. He doesnt seem interested though.
