hmm. Its not the YF-17 cobra either? At first i thought it was a YF-17, but then figured that it would be safer to bet on the F/A-18 that came out of the YF-17. I completely missed out the clue from the USAF markings and instead made the choice based purely on the F/A-18 being in service and the YF-17 being a design concept.

if that is not a YF-17, then I dunno what the heck it is. I have no idea what other US aircraft has wings and engines nacelles like that.

it is the yf-17, it competed for the contract with the F-16

oh boo. the YF-17 is visually almost identical to the F/A-18, so you were testing not the knowledge about identifying aircraft but about the markings. i.e an F/A-18 would not have USAF markings. I bet that without those markings, you too would need to look carefully to be sure that its not an F/A-18.

there are differences, the 17 is smaller, wings and wing flutes are difference, and hte horizontal stablizers are different.
