Hey guys & gals,

I got a small teaser on the 954 yesterday. My buddy just bought one and I put the first 5 miles on it. I know it's not much of a ride but the bike is still sick!!! I weigh 225 lbs and the tire starts to reach for the sky at about 3500 rpms (about 1000 quicker than my 01 929). I haven't really got to "ride" it yet but it dose seem to have a few more ponies than the "old" 929. I'll follow up in a week or so with a more complete analysis.

Later,
Rob

Just think how strong the new R1 would feel! I just bought the 954 and I'm disappointed in the rather small increase in performance over the 929. Yamaha's new R1 just dynoed at 138.9 rwhp and 75.7 rwt. Way more midrange than the 954. It looks like the R1 handles great and is easy to ride, too. Seems like Yamaha can achieve Baba's mythical 'total control' AND provide a strong motor. Honda always seems to sacrifice engine performance to achieve 'total control'. Maybe Baba should rethink his paradigm.

The new R1 doesn't make 138hp at the rear wheel, some dynos read higher than there suppose to. I've seen some 02 R1 dyno runs at 132hp. I've also seen 954 dyno runs at 130 to 136 hp. The 954 will have an equal power to weight ratio with the R1 cause of the lighter weight. Besides, you'll never see the difference of 2 or 3 hp. Compared to 130+ it's a very small %.

Maybe you should learn to ride your bike to its full potential, instead of worrying about straight line power! And you should also learn from history, No CBR900, equals no R1!

Oh by the way, please fill out you profile!

You yamahaha boys really dont do much riding do you? The yamaha forum has more post than Honda. And after careful observation, I also notice that there is a lot of problem post. So my best guess is that you guys hang out here to learn from the pros! Just keep in mind 04, will be a turning point. And if you cant wait that long, dont worry gp season is right around the corner! Rossi will make an example out of Biaggi and that sorry M1. Notice they cant even post any number on that old etsel! But then again Rossi was voted #5, of the greatest all time racers! And old Max Biaggi, well just say he is down there at #43!! I guess you yamahaha boys would want to hang out in the CHAMPION forum!

I HIGHLY DOUBT you can ride your 929 EVEN CLOSE to it's full potential either so don't rag on the guy for that. And there's nothing wrong with having a ton of straight line power, some people get off on that. Motorcycling isn't JUST about cornering.

evo~ "..No CBR900, equals no R1." Amen to that! I've rode with R6's, R1's, GSX750's, ZX9's, etc. and for the most part they can go straight. In the twisties is where you find the better rider. Apparently then I don't see any of those same riders next to me. Sure, it all depends upon the caliber of rider but not everyone needs an R1 to go fast.

If you can ride your bike to it's full potential, then how come you're not racing with the pro's? Just cause your tires are worn on the edges doesn't mean you're riding your bike near it's full potential.

P.S. over the internet, I can say, I can do anything too!

Once again another yamaha/suzuki boy comes in the Honda forum, and folds under pressure! I could post pictures but you would dispute that too! I ride for personal pleasures and I am very happy with that! Seem like you are not, and you ride the paragon of virtue!!

Well do better and post positive enforcement comments! For all I know you could be an awesome rider! Take a look at blade954 profile, nothing to inform other members! He could be a great rider or a total squid! Remember we are here to educate each other!

Boy for a guy how likes all Bike manufactures you sure do like flaming the honda people in their own forum. If you have nothing usefull to type then don't type anything. You attack people that you don't even know with accusations of what they can or can not do as far as riding. You could've been or were talking to someone who could be or might not be a racer. Your My Daddy can beat your Daddy mentality is just funny, because that's all you do in every post in the Honda Forum. Hey did any other forum get sick of you and boot you out and this was just another forum to start you crap in? Oh and by the way I'm not just stuck on honda, honda is stuck on me!
