I have an'02 R1. I was accelerating hard in second. My front wheel was just off the ground, if not just light, when my bars began to wickedly move from stop to stop. I regained control by letting of the throttle, but when I came upon the next stop light I had no front brakes. After pumping the lever several times, they returned. Does anyone know why this happened? I'm thinking the shaking somehow pushed out the brake pistons, but really have no idea. This brings up my next question...What type of steering damper are you folks having good results from?...thanks

Streetracer... that is exactly what happened. In a tankslapper as you described, the back and forth motion of the front wheel forces your caliper pistons out leaving you with little braking power. You did the right thing by pumping them which will always return your brakes. Good job!

Steering dampeners.... get the best!

Shop around though for the best price. You should be able to find it for $400 to your door.
If you can't... call up these places and ASK for the deal. They all want your business and will fight for it by giving you the best deal.
