Did AMA kill off Formula Extreme? I haven't seen anything regarding any race schedule or results (Daytona?) this year.

Hehe, is that really true is that just your hypothesis? /images/icons/laugh.gif

I'm not sure how they could get better times--more weight, more mass, less power, less money, 2nd tier riders, less tracky tires... correct me if I'm wrong.

But I went to Roadracingworld and tried to find anything about formula extreme in the 2002 schedule listings, couldn't find anything on it.

Actually that is the truth (somewhat). I don't know about lap times but the top speeds would smoke many of the Superbikes. Take into consideration that Buckmaster's F/X bike set the fastest trap speed at the last test at Cali Speedway. So due to AMA saving face they don't run F/X at Daytona.

The official AMA reason is that they don't think that the track is safe enough for the FX bikes, despite FUSA running FX races there.

Yeah, Formula Xtreme is still very much alive. They just don't run it there. It will be run at Fontana in about 3 weeks. Which is good for me, since I am racing FX at Fontana, but couldn't make it to Daytona this year. This is cool if I score points, I won't be starting down by points like I usually do in the other classes.
