ALFA ROMEO BECOMES OFFICIAL SUPPLIER TO DUCATI CORSE
Italian manufacturers Alfa Romeo and Ducati both represent the sporting characteristics and fascination of Italian design throughout the world.
These conditions have given rise to an accord thanks to which Alfa Romeo now becomes ‘Official Supplier’ to Ducati Corse.
“We are really proud to be associated with Alfa Romeo”, commented Ducati Corse Managing Director Claudio Domenicali. “Ducati Corse is a young company, made up of people with a passion for engines, who are proud to defend Italy’s racing tradition throughout the world. Our commitment and our passion have given us great success in the World Superbike Championship – the series for production-based bikes, in which the Bologna firm has won 10 Constructors’ titles and 9 Riders’ titles in the last 11 years – and the partnership with such a prestigious marque as Alfa Romeo is perfect for us.”
On announcing the accord, Director General Alfa Romeo (Italy), Paolo Gagliardo commented: “It is with great satisfaction that we are about to accompany Ducati Corse on the forthcoming World Superbike Championship season. Alfa Romeo and Ducati have always shared a passion for racing, a passion that has led the two manufacturers to win on the race track and to consolidate their image of being unique marques, recognised throughout the world as symbols of Italian style and competitiveness.
The key element in this accord is the brand-new Alfa Romeo 156 Sportwagon 2.4 JTD. Thanks to its sporting characteristics and large load capacity, the 156 is a perfect partner for Team Ducati, reigning World Superbike champions, and will be used for its journeys to and from the European races.
