i`m picking up my 2002 daytona on saturday .. after reading about the oil leak problems posted here i`m a little worried .. my hd road king doesn`t leak oil but my triumph might .. please advise

Enjoy the bike. Thats a beautiful bike. The oil leak doesn't happen on all Daytona's. Just some where the gaskets didn't seal properly.

First rule of driving, what is behind me is not important!!

Dont worry, I have 3800 miles so far and no leaks or problems, I would recommend at least a pipe and the #13 low pipe map for R-1 and gixxer1000 hunting, its way too much fun!

NO! you did not mess up, Triumphs are beutiful machines, what color did you get? I love my daytona, even though the new ones are really different looking I have read alot of good stuff about them, now if they would have only kept the single sided swingarm.... Anyway i enjoy riding a bike that you rarely see, at least in these parts.

I too have had few problems with my bike but I love more and more everyday. It's nice to belong to a select group but i'm always working on making mine different then everyone elses bike.

don't worry about it if anything goes wrong just take it into the dealer and I would be on the look out for possible recalls to fix the problem whatever it may be

You are buying a beautiful, well built machine! I absolutely love my RS. I started out looking at Daytonas but ended up opting for the RS because of the slightly more relaxed riding position (now that I'm shopping for rear sets...). I did however wipe 2 oil drips off the bottom of my RS-a couple days after the first oil service. So far dry as a bone. Yes they seem to have their reported quirks but what machine doesn't. You will love it!

well thanks everyone .. it`s a yellow daytona..i am very excited about the bike .. i`m an operating engineer[heavy equiptment operator] at ground zero for six months and my free time is limited, so i`d hoped to be riding the bike not waiting to have it fixed.. i fought with my girl friend over the colors for 2 months..she first wanted silver ..but when she saw the yellow in person she changed her mind..i`m taking off next weekend to go riding in the pocono mountains ... maybe see if the hawks nest is open ..thanks again
