Right tnow my 996 only has the stock, clear-coated decals on it. I want to add some 'DUCATI' decals with individual letters to the fairings (like the DP ones). I'm not going to clear-coat them. Since the letters won't be clear-coated will there be any risk to the decals when I wash and wax the bike?

I clean the panels by hand with a soft rag and exercise care when cleaning over the decals. No problems so far. Make sure you get a wax that doesn't dry white or you will have to spend a few hours detailing around the lettering.

DUC748, I remeber you wrote up procedures on how to install decals. Since the posts have been deleted I wanted to know if you happened to have saved them on your pc. If so could you could repost it?

I didn't save them. Here's the gist of it though...

Clean the fairings good
With a spray bottle of water/soap solution mist the fairings
Remove the decal backing and apply the decal onto the wet fairings
With the fairings wet you will be able to move the decal around until you get it in it's final placement
Gently squeegee the top of the decal (wax paper layer still present) to remove excess water and airbubbles
Allow to sit for a few minutes
Slowly peel the wax paper layer off as not to peel the decal away from the fairing.

All done.

Basically, the procedure is identical to applying the Tankslapper brand tank protectors.
