I have a S&W 1006 and a .45 frame w/a Delta Elite slide/barrel assembly. Also, a pristine Colt Delta Elite, 98%l which I don't fire.
The 10 is a sweet round; very accurate too, as much kinetic energy as a .45, plus less drop at extended range.

Much prefer the 10 over the 40 short & weak.

Am currently looking to find the Kimber & Springfield 10s; but they only made them for a yr; so hard to find in California; where if it doesn't meet 'safety' specs, it can only be old via consignment sales.

I've never used a 10mm, but I love my .40, too. /wwwthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif It has plenty of power for punching holes in paper and tin cans, which is what I normally use it for. And I suspect that it would have plenty of stopping power against an attacker if I ever needed it for that. Ammo is dirt cheap (since I load my own), which allows me to shoot a lot.

The thing is, that round is hard to find. I debated a 10mm...but it was going to cost much more for ammo and I didn't want to buy a possible obsolete product.

Love the .40. :waytogo:

I have to agree with going with a round thats easy to find. I have a G32(.357 Sig)and love it. Lots of zing  Only problem is I cant just walk in to Wal-Mart and pick up a few hundred target rounds for cheap. Depending on where i buy ammo at it can cost me anywhere between $13.00-$1900 per 50 rounds. My next gun will definatly be something cheaper to shoot and a caliber that is more common.

Kafer - I thought that one of the beauty things about the .357 SIG was that you could purchase a barrel in .40S&W and have a 'converti-gun'. Same magazines and everything, just a barrel swap.

I've been meaning to pick up a .357 barrel for my Glock 22 myself

I've heard good things about the 10mm but I wonder why it didn't catch on- odd. Anyway, where the heck can I get decent rounds for my .45 for less than $20 per 100? Shooting 200 rounds at the Range really puts a dent in my wallet each time. That and Range fees plus targets leave me feeling quite sad that I can't afford to shoot more often.

Here are some statistics for stopping power (one-shot torso shot) for differents brands/calibers:

Stopping Power for each Caliber/Brand

This is what I use in my HK:

Manu. Brand Type Grains fps fpe Shoot. Success
Federal Hydra-Shok JHP 230 850 369 71 94%

That is one of the great things about the .357 sig but i find myself spending the $125 on ammo instead of another barrel.

There are several places online where you can find targets and print them yourself if you dont mind 8x11 size targets. I find this helps cut the cost a little bit. I really like the Shoot'N See targets but those are around a dollar each just to tear it up.

Just type in "free targets" in your web browser
