Need help fellas...I know that the '94-'97 ZX9R motor fits a '96-'03 ZX7R but has anyone tried installing a '98-'99 on it?!?! /wwwthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I dont know of anyone who has tried it, but I do know the 9 was significantly change for '98 so I have me doubts

Will not go in without frame mods. That said, I'm sure someone has tried it, maybe even succeeded, but they sure are keeping it a secret...

There was just such a swap in one of the Euro mags a few years ago. I just remember the bike was the red '96 7R with the '98 9R engine. It was a pretty involved swap, but the bike flat out ran when he was done!!

Another option is to source a crank from the '91-'92 7R. Fundamentally the same as the '93-'02 but with a longer stroke. Add in some hi comp pistons, lumpier cams and some headwork and you've got one hell of an engine.
