Buell guys, here is a question. I'm posting this to get info for a buddy of mine. He's got a 2001 X1. The guy wants to start doing track days. What do you guys think the most important mods for riding track days are? He does not plan on racing so stuff like "get a turbo" etc. is a little unrealistic. I mean more basic stuff like suspension mods, clip-ons etc. I told him that the bike is plenty good in stock trim(at least to get started) but he wants to start doing a few things at a time to make it a little more track oriented. Thanks in advance for your help. One more thing, Where can he get frame sliders for the X1?

If he doesn't have rearsets I would recomend them along with either the 2002 shifter or an aftermarket shifter like the Banke unit. New front springs are a cheap upgrade as well. An oil cooler is a good purchase. Getting the metal haedgaskets will make both him and the rest of the people on the track happy. Make sure he has a complete safetywire job done including the oil filter

Hmmm, lets buy a new Buell and throw our whole wallet at it and watch it get passed by every 600cc race bike out there! ?? Is there a point to racing a buell that Im missing? I have been watching the buell guys at the track work so hard to never have a competitive racer. There are 1 or 2 Buell riders that have fast buell's but they have spent thousands and thousands of dollars on a 1000cc bike only to get killed by supersport legal 600's. Is it a Harley thing? What is it? I have a buddy that has a Firebolt that he has crashed several times trying to run with stock 600's. He ends up on his head everytime because he has to carry so much more corner speed to hold off the other 600's that are trying to get by. He is already talking about getting an RC51 to race because he is tired of loosing races. Most of the other racers I talk to think the Buell guys are just in the way when they are out for practice. I guess Ill never get it. :rolling: :waytogo:
