thanks for any of you guys that can offer me some insight.
MadDash 11-28-2002, 10:05 PM Not professional racing, right? Just weekend track days? All we have had to do is notify our supervisors of what we plan to do, since it is "hazardous." I had to do the same type of thing the last time I went skydiving. I'm stationed at Hickam AFB, and our MAJCOM recently came down with a new safety program to track the "hazardous" things we do on a daily basis. Just riding a motorcycle to work eveyday was enough that the program recommended that I seek professional help with my "issues." It's all jacked up. So, to answer your question about racing, you can still enjoy your trackdays. I wish you the best in your decision in becoming a part of the greatest military in the world!!! I've been in for 5+ years, and have reenlisted until 2008. I'm a lifer, no questions asked!!!

justinzx6r 11-29-2002, 07:17 AM hazordous? right now i'm running the WERA southeastern schedule with a sponsor. so i'm kinda "semi-pro," maybe?
thanks for your response.
SSgtGooB 11-29-2002, 01:24 PM In one of the Airmens Mags I read a Capt won some semi pro races on a 250. Just remember you have to put the mission first. If there is a race and you are on Duty they dont have to let you off.
vegaseric 11-29-2002, 01:54 PM As long as you don't get a remote assignment, you will be able to continue your racing. Try to make it out here to Nellis AFB. You'll have plenty of opportunity for racing/track days/riding out here. Good luck.
SSgtGooB 11-29-2002, 02:27 PM That and Colorado, they race MRA at 2nd creek and PPIR. But you also have to know that you are not going to get paid [censored] for a couple years. If you come in and you get E-3 you will be better off. You will promote to E-4 with in 28 months of time in grade. I would also plan it to were you can test for E-5 the same year you pin on E-4.
Del Boogie 11-29-2002, 08:40 PM Two words for you bruh........guaranteed job.
R1LAJA 11-30-2002, 03:11 AM You have to ask yourself what you want out of service first. As for racing, that all depends on where you will be stationed, but I'm sure you will be able to find a track that are closest to you. Now, whether you can devote that much time on racing like you are now might be questionable.
Regardless of which branch you join, because IMHO they are all good, go in as an officer. I don't know how close you are to getting your degree, but if you are close, get your degree first. Because there's a big difference in pay compare to coming in as E-1 and 0-1 second Lieutenant.
BlueDragon 12-01-2002, 11:05 AM I'd just say that remember why you're joining...You join, and you'll have a job to do. All your other activities come second, even if you have an important race or practice or anything else..
swjohnsey 12-01-2002, 12:38 PM If you join now you shouldn't plan on doing a lot of racing. Dubya if fixin' to start a war. When the war starts even the Air Force will be working long hours, probably in some God forsaken desert in the middle east.
redCBR 12-03-2002, 01:47 AM I am working some long hours already!
NinjaChic 12-03-2002, 02:25 PM Hope you don't mind hearing from a chic about the AF. Just let me say, it's the best decision you'll ever make. Good luck with whatever decision you choose...but hope you make the right one and join!

Ditto that RedCBR!!!
For most people, the Air Force tends to be like your average 9-5 job....I always seem to get the wonderful 12 hour shifts...
holzieaf 12-04-2002, 08:56 AM been in for 10 1/2 and love it..has it's ups and down like every other job out there,,,trust me I know...but I am glad I am in..and will stay till 20
kramrd 12-06-2002, 07:29 AM Aint no motorcycle racing in Iraq or Afghanistan right now... not until we flatten it anyway. If you join, be prepared to deploy during your tour... the state of world affairs isnt too bright right now...
Just make sure you know what you're getting into is all...

Although it would be interesting to watch a dirtbike mounted Al Qaeda try and race a hellfire barrage..
feel free to replace 'dirtbike' with 'camel', although it loses the effect..
