Anyone have the 110/120 W halogen bulbs from LP?

I really want to get some bright lights for my bike and have kind of decided on these lights from LockhartPhillips. They're the halogen bulbs w/ 110 watts output on low and 120 on high. That sounds much better than the 55/60 stock.

Does anyone have these and if so, will they cause problems for oncoming drivers (or cops) on dim? Any other things to be aware of? Any place to get them cheaper?

Thanks.

I was going to buy some, but i found bulb covers. There are blue glass with clips that slid over the blub. They make the lights a bright blue. And I saved money they were only 10 bucks each

Hey GOOB... those covers are JUNK! They will break into pieces less then a week. zxcoph had some and that's what happened to his.

Thanks for the thought but what I'm really after is increased light intensity rather than color.

These bulbs also happen to have a blue ring which is nice but its not what I'm after.

Thank you.

Do you think it would be wise to stick in lights that will draw that kind of amperage. The bikes wiring and charging system is not designed for that kind of amperage draw, you would have to put relays in the harness and have a problem with your battery/charging system getting cooked. I would try something a little less drastic.

No really, I do own a bike!

I agree with banshee, 120W/12V= 10A per bulb. You'd have to run some heavier wire in combination with a relay. Even then 20A is a whole lot to pull from a tiny motorcycle alternator...

Good point. I checked back on LP's site and this particular page has been re-done and prices have also dropped quite a bit.

I really want the brighter lights but obviously not at the expense of damaging my electrical system. The ion bulbs (as opposed to the halogens I originally wanted) seem to be a good alternative here. These are actually white light LEDs which draw much less power than conventional bulbs so we can get more light out w/o frying our generators or wiring.

If anyone's interested, they're $59 for a pair of H4 bulbs.

Also, if anyone's interested in the theory behind these bulbs, here's a link for you: http://www.iapp.de/iapp/gvs4/abstracts/gvs4_l22_winnacker.pdf

Thanks!

I'm going to be ordering a set of Philips Vision Plus bulbs. They put out 50% more light and are the stock wattage, they rate them very highly among people that have them and in any light test I've seen. They're available in Europe, I believe you can order them at www.fosmo.com. Oh, they ship anywhere in the world for free too.

the bulb is still a 55/60 it is just rated as 110 /120. i had one in my r6. the blue ion on the one side. to give my bike some contrast so poeple could see mr better. it did make it brighter , especially when looking at the bike from a distance. made everything blue at night thogh. i kind liked it. it is worth the money IMO. i would go for one white iona nd one blue ion. or stay with 2 whites or whatever. but yeah there good. you can get them on ebay for like 40 or so with shipping for 2

Hey guys, check out the ones from Tricktape. http://www.tricktape.com.
I love the ones I have and they made a huge difference without putting any extra strain on the elec. system. I'll try to take a picture tonight comparing them to the stock ones.

Nope, it's 90/100. You have nothing to worry about when it comes to heat or drain on the battery. Just go ahead and order yourself a pair, you won't be disappointed.
