Small form factor video cards/PCI AGP cards!?

Building a small gaming/fun box. I got a small, home theater case. It is so slim that none of my cards are made for this thin form factor. I was unaware they made pci & agp cards this small... Nor can I find any new ones. wuh!? Where can I get these cards made for this slim form factor? Anyone know?

If it's as short as these Micro-ATX HTPC (home theater PC) cases by Silverstone, it won't accept any peripheral cards and you're expected to use onboard video, network, sound, etc. You won't be building much of a gaming system if you want to use that case.

My older model Silverstone is basically just a desktop case with a nice brushed aluminum finish and some other nice touches, and was able to fit several generations of ATI cards up until this most recent one (X1950XT). Now I gotta leave the case cover off. : It's just a wee bit too tall.

What's in the Mac Mini... or for that matter; can you use a laptop video card?

How much is the fish?

Get a right-angle AGP adapter:

AGPRX4-1 is an AGP right angle extender.

They have them pointing in either side.

Hey that's cool, I was going to suggest breaking out a soldering iron...

Re: Small form factor video cards/PCI AGP cards!?

Here is what I got.

I found out that they make some cards in a "Slim" design. They are difficult to find though. And even when some say slim, the metal thing that goes to the back of the case is still long.

Here is what I am talking about... This is the vid card I want now.

see, it is slim...

This one says slim, but the metal face is still long.

though, as you can see the board is slim.

I had to cut the metal face on my NIC card so it would fit. No screw down bracing now. But it works.

I wonder what holds the metal face on that card. With some of them, it's just the two nutscrews that keep the monitor cable from coming unplugged. Unscrew those and the face comes off. If you can take the mounting face off, it would be easily modified. It appears that that is a thin card that has a long face for use in a standard case.

Yeah, I saw a kit while searching that had slim faces for these slim cards. It said it fit XFX cards I think. But, knowing exactly which cards it would fit was unclear. Now I cant find it.

Doesn't look like that video card is going to run very many games. I had a Radeon 9600 years ago that was a lot beefier looking than that, and it won't run crap.
